History of The "Colby House"
The "Colby House" is a City of Berkeley Landmark. The famous photographer Ansel Adams was in his youth among its residents. The house was built in 1905 by Julia Morgan, the first female architect in California. She is better known for designing the expansive residence of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, a mansion located on the Central Coast of California which has become a National Historic Landmark: the "Hearst Castle". |
